Amazon’s new Fire TV is now available in the U.K., priced at £79 (approx. $127). The device allows Prime subscribers to stream movies and TV shows directly to the big screen in their living rooms, and it comes with a free, 30-day trial for new users.
The Fire TV first became available in the U.S. back in April, and it’s received some very positive reviews. In addition to support for a whole host of popular streaming services, it also lets users play games, and there are some impressive specifications under the hood that power them.
Those include a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, and dedicated Adreno 320 graphics — which combine to deliver four times the performance of the Chromecast or the $99 Apple TV, according to Amazon. There’s also 8GB of storage built-in, and connectivity options like HDMI, optical audio, ethernet, and USB.
In the U.K., Fire TV supports services like Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Sky News, BBC News and BBC Sport, Vevo, and Demand 5. You can also use it to watch live TV with the TV Player app, listen to live radio from TuneIn, and enjoy your favorite YouTube videos.
Some of the biggest and best games currently available on Fire TV include Rockstar’s awesome Grand Theft Auto series, Minecraft, The Walking Dead, and Amazon’s own Fire TV exclusive, Sev Zero. It’s also the only place — at least for now — where you’ll find the new Flappy Birds Family game.
Fire TV is available now with Prime shipping in the U.K., so you can order yours today and have it delivered to your door tomorrow free of charge.
