Doesn’t seem to be that much in terms of variety, but this week is home to what could easily be considered the scariest video game series of all time.

Readers might know that I am a huge fan of the Fatal Frame games, and I recommend them every time they pop up in a sale like this. This year is no different as all three are available for a criminally low price of $4.89 each. It’s not as low as past years when they sunk to $2 each, but you still can’t argue with that price. If we are keeping our limit at one game a week, like me, then the prize easily goes to Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.

The others are good, but not half as frightening as the series’ middle child.

Beyond the Fatal Frame games, Demon’s Souls is still as remarkable and fresh as the day it was launched, and I will always stand by it in terms of comparisons to its spiritual successor Dark Souls. It’s a much tighter action game with better pacing and just an overall more dreary feel.

Dead Space 2 is also difficult to ignore at that price. I love the original, but the consensus of the fans and critics seem to put this one as the series’ high point.

After that, we’ll close out this article with Darkstalkers: Resurrection, an attempt to breathe life into the classic Capcom vampire based fighting series. It didn’t do as well as the publisher had hoped, and it sadly killed off the solid franchise. Still, it’s a nice game to pick up on sale.

The rest of the games are worth glancing at, but I’ve given you the highlights. Are you planning on snagging anything this week? I nabbed Fatal Frame III to finish my collection, but next week has some promising sales too if you want to wait. No need to go spending all your money in one place.

Stay tuned for more.
