Computer Dog

A new phishing scam aimed at excitable PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers has surfaced that focuses on Grand Theft Auto V.

Some emails and ads have been going around that promise access to a beta program for the new gen port of the open world smash hit, though they are entirely and utterly false. They’re part of a scam, and you should ignore them.

The problem has become large enough that Rockstar has officially put out a warning and built a specific URL for it. RockstarGames.com/NoBeta is the address, and it’s there that you’ll find this.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO PRE-RELEASE ‘BETA’ TEST FOR GRAND THEFT AUTO V.

IF YOU SEE ADS OR SOLICITATIONS TO JOIN A BETA PROGRAM, BEWARE AS THIS IS LIKELY SOME TYPE OF ONLINE PHISHING SCAM.

There you have it. There is no beta, do not be fooled. Grand Theft Auto V will hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18th, 2014. PC gamers will see their version on January 27th, 2015. We’ll have more on the title as it comes.
