Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond, best known for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, is leaving Ubisoft, the company announced yesterday in an official statement.
“Today, Ubisoft announced that after 10 years of collaboration, the company and Jade Raymond have agreed to pursue future opportunities separately,” they said. Stepping into Raymond’s role will be Alexandre Parizeau, a founding member of Ubisoft Toronto.
“I’ve spent 10 extraordinary years at Ubisoft, and I am proud to have been part of many of the best teams in the industry making truly remarkable games,” said Raymond. “This is one of the hardest decisions of my career, but the Toronto studio is strong and on a solid path. I’m confident that now is a good time for me to transition leadership of the studio to Alex and to pursue my other ambitions and new opportunities. Stay tuned for more on what’s next for me, but for now, I’d like to thank Ubisoft for its partnership through the years, and I wish them the very best in all their next endeavours.”
Raymond’s entry into the industry was through Sony as a programmer, according to her Wikipedia page. She worked on The Sims Online at Electronic Arts before heading to Ubisoft. With Ubisoft, she’s worked on the Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, and Watch_Dogs franchises as a producer and executive producer.
Whenever high-profile member of the industry make a move, the nature of that move is kept quiet until things are set in stone. Raymond hasn’t announced yet where she’s going, but she confirmed on Twitter that she’s staying in games, telling Polygon‘s Brian Crecente, “rest assured I’m a lifer.”
