Dark Souls

Dark Souls has taken its sweet time, as it does in all things, in getting away from Games for Windows Live. Bandai Namco announced today via its official Tumblr, however, that next month it will finally be possible for owners of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die to migrate their ownership as well as their saves and achievements from GFWL to Steam.

GFWL users will be able to redeem their game tokens (keys, essentially) on Steam to get the game there at no additional cost. Through November, those users will also be able to transfer their save data – characters & progress – as well as achievements over to their steam accounts. It’s also important to note that while the migration period for user data is limited, you will be able to move your ownership from GFWL to Steam even after the November migration period ends.

Bandai Namco says it’ll have more information, such as exact start and end dates for the migration soon.
