When we think of the “masters of horror,” we think of names like Guillermo Del Toro, Wes Craven and Stephen King. In the world of manga, Japanese comics, though, there’s a different name at the top: Junji Ito.

If you’ve spent any time online, you may have seen one of his more infamous comics, The Enigma of Amigara Fault, about people being compelled to crawl into human shaped holes in the side of a mountain. Now, Junji Ito is collaborating with none other than The Pokemon Company for a creepy Halloween comic.

The project, called Kowapoke – short for Scary Pokemon – has one  image posted so far, of the Pokemon called Banette following a girl. It’s not clear whether she’s his Pokemon master or if he’s a creeper, but Junji Ito’s trademark style takes Banette from cool to nightmare inducing. More is set to come, but it’s not likely, unfortunately, that the collaborative promotion will make it stateside.

Check the source link below for proof that they’re putting this image on a real t-shirt as well.
