Not since Fallout 3 has a video game been so overly loaded with excessive violence over and over and over again. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor makes the right decision and doesn’t shy away from its constant stream of dismemberment and decapitation, putting it right in your face every time. Now, others might not be able to shy away either thanks to a new patch that allows a versatile photo mode and sharing.
The patch comes in at 600-700 MB depending on if you have a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One respectively. A simple click of the left analog stick will freeze the game to open the photo mode, and from there, you can capture your scene and edit it with a wide assortment of textures and filters.
I was wary of these new consoles’ connectivity features, thinking I would not get into the streaming, sharing, and all that social nonsense. And yet, here is my first game on a next-gen console and one of my favorite games of the year calling me to get in. I gotta resist those gut reactions, I suppose. It must come with age.
No word on a PC patch yet, but it should be out soon enough.
