It looks like Apple has officially booted Bose from its online and retail stores. The audio electronics company’s headphones and speakers have completely vanished from Apple’s online store, and several retail stores also confirmed to 9to5Mac that Bose products have been cleared from physical shelves as well.
It was only a matter of time before this happened after Apple purchased Beats Electronics, but the two headphone and speaker-makers had recently settled an ongoing patent dispute out of court. Then again, that hasn’t kept the companies from sparring over sponsorships, especially in the NFL, where Bose has locked down pretty much all forms of promotion. That hasn’t stopped Beats from working its way into the conversation while earning some free press along the way, however.
It makes sense that Apple wouldn’t want to sell Bose products now that it’s a direct competitor. 9to5Mac also notes the Cupertino company is still selling headphones from several smaller competing brands, so maybe the decision to ban Bose really was personal.
