Tim Cook took the stage during the company’s iPad event in Cupertino on Thursday and reiterated that the launch of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus was the most successful in the company’s history, even ahead of the launch of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c last year.
Cook said Apple has set a new watermark for the most orders taken, “and I don’t mean by a little, by a lot, a whole lot,” he said, noting that the phone is set to launch in China just a few hours from now. “Pre-orders, as you might guess, have set a new record,” Cook noted about the launch. “This is our biggest iPhone launch ever.”
Cook is expected to unveil new iPads shortly.
