Along with the option to pre-order the game, the PlayStation Store update revealed that Capcom might have a release date for Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Feb. 17, 2015. However, widespread speculation from the gaming community led to a statement from Resident Evil‘s Twitter account claiming that the date is just a placeholder and should not be taken as a confirmation.

We’ll let you speculate if it’s the truth or not. Either way, Capcom is giving me plenty of time to blast through the handful of other survival horror games I have to play this winter.
Those who pre-order Resident Evil Revelations 2 through the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 have access to free Raid Mode DLC packs which will take gamers back in time and allow them to raid in stages based on previous games in the series.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is only $25, by far the cheapest the series has ever been at launch, and it will be an episodic game with four chapters appearing over the course of a month. It’s an interesting path for the series and the struggling Capcom to take, and we’ll see how the budgetary decisions obviously behind the release style affect the quality of the game.
Seeing how it has the original Resident Evil Revelations HD team behind it, I’m expecting good things.
Capcom’s official word on the release date for Resident Evil Revelations 2 is early 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Could it be February 17th? Maybe, just maybe!
