Google Confirms Android 5.0, Still Doesn’t Share Official Dessert Name

We still don’t officially know the name of Google’s Android L, but we think we have a good idea. Google knows we’re chomping at the bit for an announcement, so it released a cheeky video teasing the possible candidates. Lady Finger? Yep, that’s one of them. Lemon Drop, who is played by an adorable little girl, is also considered.

One of the biggest pieces of information revealed in the video is actually that Android will make the jump up to version 5.0; previously it went from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to Android 4.4 KitKat, which surprised quite a few folks. Google knows we’re agonizing over Android L’s name, and it’s fun to see the company acknowledge this with a fun video. Lemon Meringue Pie? Licorice? Lollipop?

There are quite a few options, and no real answer. It’s safe to say, however, that Lettuce Head (at the 0:15 mark) won’t be the chosen one. Google’s new Nexus devices will supposedly be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 15, so we might get the official word tomorrow. In the meantime, all we’re left to do is guess. This new video doesn’t help much, but it sure it fun.
