What will Google officially call the next version of Android? Several names have been tossed around, including Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP showed up in some early builds), Lollipop and Licorice. So far, however, Google has only called its next mobile OS “Android L.”
Now we might be getting new clues from the guy that builds the famous Google statues for each build of Android. Giovanni Calabrese is out in Mountain View now and, along the way, he dropped a few hints.
On Google+, Calabrese teased that he was handing out boxes of licorice at his airline gate. “What’s with all of the boxes of licorice?” Calabrese said he was asked by the TSA. Was he really carrying licorice and handing it out or, perhaps, is he just trying to mess with everyone watching his Google+ page closely for a hint? We don’t know and we probably won’t hear anything official until Wednesday, when rumor has it Google will launch the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 on its website.
For some reason we still think Lollipop will be the official name, but maybe Calabrese isn’t messing around.
