Halo 5 Guardians E3 Reveal - 1

You hear that sound? That’s the sound of the crazy Halo 5: Guardians rumor mill grinding to a full halt. It sounds glorious, friends.

Rumors have recently swirled regarding the lead character in Halo 5: Guardians. Right, to most that character seems obvious; it’s going to be Master Chief. Well, when actor Mike Colter, who plays Agent Locke in the live action Halo: Nightfall, said he’d be the primary character in Halo 5, Master Chief’s role was thrown into question.

Consider that rumor squashed and Colter’s statement a mistake. Frank O’Connor, Halo‘s Franchise Development Director at 343 Industries, took to NeoGAF in order to silence the craziness.

Colter’s original quote read as follows:

“You’re basically going to be playing a game with me as the primary character…”

O’Connor’s follow-up on NeoGAF?

“A” primary character, Chief is the main character and hero.

O’Connor even responded to an allegation that 343 and Microsoft were going to retire Chief and that this was the first step in that process.

NO. The end.

The end indeed, friends. Let’s put these rumors about Chief to bed. He’s going to be with us for a long, long time to come, regardless of whatever other primary characters 343 Industries works up.

Halo 5: Guardians is currently planned for the Holiday of 2015. We’ll have more on the game as it comes.
