Sony unveiled the Xperia Z3v earlier today as a Verizon exclusive during a press event, but that’s not the only new gadget headed to the U.S. carrier. The Japanese tech giant also confirmed that its Android Wear-powered Smartwatch 3 will be available on Verizon, though the company didn’t reveal exactly when it will launch or how much it will cost.
The Smartwatch 3 is a pretty standard device as far as smartwatches go, sporting a small square 1.6-inch display, a 420mAh battery, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Unfortunately, the design is pretty unimpressive compared to Motorola’s Moto 360 or the LG G Watch R. Sony previously said the wearable device would cost about $300, though rumor has it Verizon may charge $250. It’s also possible the new smartwatch could come bundled with the Xperia Z3v at a discount, though there’s no guarantee that will happen.
We’ll keep an eye out for any more info on Sony’s Smartwatch 3, though it shouldn’t be too long now before the device is available. The company previously promised the new wearable would launch in the fall.
