Ocarina of Time Being Remade in SNES Style by Fans for PC

Oh, the stuff video game fans come up with when they have a PC at their disposal and the know how to make things happen. Today we have word of a remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. It’s being done in a 2D, top-down style that’s almost identical to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

This project has actually been going on for a while, but it’s only now getting attention after a few gaming sites and blogs are linking to it. You can find the game, for free, at the official site linked in the source box below.

The Legend of Zelda - OOT2D

While it’s still definitely a work in progress, The Legend of Zelda: OOT2D is playable and officially supports USB controllers on the PC. Have a PC? Cool, you can download and play the game now. It’s not exactly perfect, but it’s an interesting project and idea nevertheless.

This is the merging of two of my top three favorite Zelda games. If these guys were remaking Wind Waker in A Link to the Past style, I think I might keel over and die on the spot.

Who knows if Nintendo will step in and put the kibosh on this project. Now that it’s sort of blowing up, we imagine the end is nigh.
