Windows 10

Want to give Microsoft’s Windows 10 a try? The Redmond-based company on Wednesday officially launched its Windows Insider Program, giving folks the opportunity to try out Microsoft’s big new Windows 10 update.

For those who were unhappy with the much maligned Windows 8, Windows 10 is a huge breath of fresh air, introducing things like the return of the Start menu, Modern apps that run in windows, and improved snap capabilities. Microsoft’s Windows software has become the butt of many jokes over the past several months, but Windows 10 might see the company back to form.

In addition to a ton of new features, Microsoft is also ensuring the new operating system can run on “the broadest types of devices ever,” hopefully to better unify the desktop, tablet and phone. When Windows 10 launches sometime late next year, it’ll offer one application store for apps, and also emphasize the enterprise market, giving companies the tools to more easily deploy phones and other devices.

If you want to give the new update a quick test drive, you can join the Windows Insider Program to gain access to the Windows 10 Technical Preview. We’ll be giving the new software a spin later today, so look out for our hands-on.
