Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 REmix Japanese TV Spots Focus on Friends and Story

Square Enix has to really chug out a huge hit this week if it wants to be able to slow down Level-5 and Nintendo’s domination of the Japanese sales charts. It’s going to take an awful lot to put a stop to Super Smash Bros. and Yokai Watch 2‘s warpaths, but nobody can say that it hasn’t tried after making not one but three different TV spots for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 REmix.

I’ve said this before, but after all these years, I still find it weird to hear Disney characters speaking in Japanese, especially in the Kingdom Hearts games. I blame flashbacks to the game’s first reveal way back in 2001.

This latest HD bundle, due for release on Thursday, has three different TV spots airing right now before my eyes with the themes of “Friends” and “Story.” The two 15 second spots are combined into a 30 second “Friends and Story” TV spot. With naming conventions like that, consider my mind blown!

A recent trip to Tokyo Disneyland has my Disney nostalgia firing on all fronts, and this trip coincided with Tokyo Game Show 2014, a convention that reestablished the Final Fantasy franchise in the forefront of my mind. Needless to say, I can’t think of a better time to jump back into Kingdom Hearts.

Perfect timing on the release in Japan, but the English version of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 HD REmake won’t be released until Dec. 2 on the PlayStation 3.
