There’s been a lot of information about the Nexus 6 floating around, but Android Police has what it claims is the device’s final specs; the publication is giving it a 9/10 confidence level. According to the site, the device will indeed be a larger version of the latest Moto X in terms of the physical design, but pack even crazier specs than we could have ever imagined. We’re talking a 5.9-inch QHD display, dual front-facing speakers, Snapdragon 805 processor and more.
The image provided to Android Police shows what the device might look like running Android L, with redesigned icons and an overall more minimal look. A new messaging icon sits next to the dialer, while there’s an app dedicated solely to Google’s suite of editing apps (Drive, Docs, etc.). Beyond that, you can see changes made to the status icons for battery, Wi-Fi and cell signal, which will be present in the next Android release.
The device’s design will feature the same aluminum frame introduced with the second generation Moto X, though it’s unclear how different the back will look. Motorola’s M logo will likely be taken off, replaced by what we’d imagine will be Nexus branding. Other hardware features may include a 13-megapixel shooter with OIS, a 3200mAh battery (or higher) and support for Motorola’s turbo charger (no mention of wireless charging).
There apparently won’t be any smaller Nexus 6 versions, so we hope you like 6-inch displays. (Android Police doesn’t discount Google keeping the smaller Nexus a complete secret, but that’s highly unlikely at this point, especially with Shamu leaking so often.) Motorola designs do a great job of keeping the footprint minimal, and we saw that with the 5.2-inch Moto X. But we’re not so sure a 6-inch version will be as comfortable; we’ll have to wait and see.
Google will reportedly announce new devices in October, so we’re not all that far from seeing what the company has planned. In addition to a new phone, the company might also introduce a beastly new tablet made by HTC. What these devices will cost, however, is still a big question. With such bleeding edge specs, there’s definitely potential for the price to go up. Hopefully we find out soon.
A report from 9to5Google claims a new Motorola-made Nexus is indeed on the way, and it’ll essentially be the smartphone of our dreams. We’re talking a QHD display, a Snapdragon 805 processor, a 13-megapixel camera and other functionality you’d expect from a brand new Nexus device. It might not feature the familiar Motorola tricks, though […]
It looks a lot like the new Moto X, only bigger. We must be talking that rumored Nexus device being made by Motorola. Last night a few more details about the device popped up online, and now an image, which appeared via the XDA-Developers community, shows what appears to be said Nexus device (otherwise known […]
It’s been about 11 months since the Nexus 5 first hit the market, so it seems fair to expect a new stock Android phone from Google to launch sometime next month. Rumors of a potential Nexus 6 have been floating around for a while now, but a recent statement from one carrier has us thinking […]
