Well this is a shame. Phones 4U entered administration recently after Vodafone and EE decided to no longer sell phones in its shops. Those two carriers are helping out existing employees by picking up some of the existing Phones 4U retail stores and rebranding them, but Phones 4U has another problem on its hands: the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units that customers already ordered and paid for before the company went into administration.
Sadly, the company isn’t ever going to deliver those devices. Or refund them. Pretty shameful.
“Unfortunately we do not have any iPhone 6’s therefore customers who have pre-ordered an iPhone 6 through Phones 4u will not receive their purchase,” Phones 4U says on its site. “Customers who have paid using credit cards should contact their credit card company to try and seek resolution to this matter. If you are unable to obtain a refund through your credit card company and wish to register a claim, your claim (to the extent you have one) will rank as an unsecured claim in the Administration.”
The company’s funds are likely tied down now that it’s in administration, but what a terrible way to go out – leaving trusting customers out in the cold. Hopefully credit card companies can help out the affected a bit.
