Nintendo has revealed two new models of the Nintendo 2DS that it will release alongside Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in the U.K. The new transparent red and blue versions will be released in a bundle with the Pokemon games on Nov. 28.
Those who want to download the Pokemon game and not worry about buying a bundle will be able to pick up the two-standalone models on Nov. 7. Each comes with a 4GB memory card, more than enough space to download the newest Pokemon generation games.
There is no word on an American release just yet, but is there any demand? I don’t own a Nintendo 2DS and would really like to go hands-on with one, but with the New Nintendo 3DS just around the corner, I would have a hard time trying to justify a purchase.
However, that transparent plastic is pretty sweet, a throwback to the days of see-through Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. The DS line clamshell design has been unable to sport a transparent model, but the 2DS has no such open and closing ability, making it the perfect candidate to do it first in the DS family.
