New Nintendo 3DS Appears in Japanese TV Spot for the First Time

by Ron Duwell | September 24, 2014

Three weeks shy of the New Nintendo 3DS’ release date in Japan, and the hype on mainstream television has just begun. The handheld’s first TV spot spells out the differences between the new and the old model, including the new, convenient camera re-positioning button found near the handheld’s face buttons.

It’s one of the strangest new features of this device, and you really have to wonder if it will work for every game. How does that programming work?

The commercial also sheds light on new products and features that are bound to boost the New Nintendo 3DS’ sales figure, including Super Smash Bros., Monster Hunter 4G, amiibo figurines, Xenoblade Chronicles, the larger screens, and Nintendo’s official protective shells.

It’s an awful lot for the thirty-second commercial, but Nintendo gets it done. I went hands on with the New Nintendo 3DS at Tokyo Game Show 2014 playing Monster Hunter 4, and it felt so light and “just oh so good’ in my hands. It might be because I am so used to the beefy Nintendo 3DS XL, so I think I might downsize when I upgrade this time around.
