Steam Storefront Updates

Valve is now rolling out the Steam Discovery Update to its customers, both of the potential and addicted variety. If you fire up Steam and head to the storefront, you’ll be greeted with a stark redesign.

It turns out this update is more than just a fresh coat of paint, as Steam has detailed with a page dedicated to the new store. Here’s how that page begins:

Discover your next favorite game. The Steam Discovery Update makes it easier to find exactly what you want when shopping for a new game experience.

In the past nine months, over 1,300 new titles have been added to Steam. We know you can’t play them all, so we’ve updated Steam with new features and functionality to help you discover the best new releases, the classics, and the unique indie gems you might be interested in.

So, what, exactly, is new? First of all, the homepage has been tweaked to show not only what’s been newly released, but also what’s recently been updated, what’s currently on sale and what games are recommended for you.

You’ll also be able to customize exactly what you see. So, maybe you’ll see DLC sales for games already in your library, or maybe you want to see a swath of pre-order offerings. There’s a section of the storefront that allows you to tick off what you want to see and what you don’t.

Then there’s the Discover Queue. As Valve has it, “Your Steam Discovery Queue is a powerful, new way of exploring the most popular new releases that you haven’t yet seen.” You’ll be able to zip through games you might like, add them to your wishlist or buy them outright. Or, well, ignore them, which is what my wallet wants me to do.

There’s more, too. Steam Curators, for instance, will allow you to follow specific gamers who recommend games and provide reviews on their own page. Find someone who shares your love for pigeon dating sims? Maybe they’ll curate Steam for you.

Read more about the update at the source link below. It should be waiting for you now if you open your client.
