The DROID Turbo is poised to be Motorola’s most powerful smartphone this year, even beating out the revamped Moto X spec for spec, at least based on recent leaks. Now we’re getting a first look at the rumored handset, which is expected to launch as a Verizon exclusive sometime this year.
Today’s photos come from HelloMotoHK, a Motorola-focused leaker with a pretty good track record. Based on today’s leak it looks like the DROID Turbo will feature a plastic design with a curved back, dual LED flash modules and capacitive buttons upfront. Overall it looks pretty nice, falling somewhere in-between older DROID models and the newer Moto X design.
HelloMotoHK also offers up a few specs for the Droid Turbo, which will apparently pack a 5.2-inch screen and front-facing speakers. Earlier leaks suggested the phone would offer a slightly smaller 5-inch 1440 x 2560-pixel display, a Snapdragon 805 processor, a 20-megapixel rear camera, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and Android 4.4 KitKat.
It’s hard not to get excited about the DROID Turbo, but there are two big reasons you should hold off for now. First, we still don’t have any official confirmation that this device is anything more than just a rumor. Second, Motorola’s new phone is expected to be a Verizon exclusive, which leaves a lot of potential customers out of the market. Still, we’re curious to see what the company has planned for its next entry in the DROID lineup.
