Okami HD

What’s a better way for Capcom to celebrate Tokyo Game Show 2014 than with a PlayStation sale of all the great Japanese games it used to make. The PlayStation Network has huge savings on plenty of Capcom’s most beloved classics and a few of its modern stinkers.

See the list below.

Darkstalkers Resurrection – $14.99 | $7.49
Devil May Cry HD Collection – $29.99 | $11.99

Resident Evil 6 – $19.99 | $9.99

Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001 – $9.99 | $4.99
Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X – $9.99 | $4.99
Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo HD Remix – $9.99 | $4.99
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record – $19.99 | $6.99
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike – $14.99 | $3.75
Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection – $26.99 | $13.49
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix – $9.99 | $4.99
Resident Evil: Revelations – $39.99 | $13.49
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara – $14.99 | $7.49
DmC: Devil May Cry – $39.99 | $15.99
Capcom Fighting Evolution – $9.99 | $4.99
Street Fighter x Tekken – $39.99 | $9.99
Lost Planet 3 – $39.99 | $13.49

Where to begin? Obviously, Okami is a great choice for anyone who would think to call themselves a “gamer.” It’s an expansive action adventure game with a lot of quirky Japanese humor and beautiful cel-shaded graphics. It didn’t cream The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess during the 2006 rewards season for no reason. This game is a perfect cult-classic through and through.

Director Hideki Kamiya is also well known for being the main brain behind the first Devil May Cry, and you should pick up the original HD trilogy cheaply as well. Both it and Devil May Cry 3 hold up as two of the best and most revolutionary action games of all time.

Resident Evil has a fair showing obviously, Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever made, and I would call it impossible to ignore at that price even if the HD port isn’t quite on the level some were expecting. From there, Resident Evil Revelations HD is the best original game released in the series in the last generation, followed by Resident Evil 5. All three should be on your hit list.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is a bit of a surprise! It’s a classic arcade beat ’em up inspired by the world of the revolutionary pen & paper RPG series, and it works far better than it has any right to. I never played the original RPG cabinet, but I’ve had fun brushing through this a few times on the PlayStation 3. A missing little piece of history now available cheaply.

I’ll close out my recommendations with Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X if PS Vita owners are dying for a new game, and want a fresh look at the Super Nintendo classic. On the Street Fighter front, you can’t go wrong with Third Strike or Alpha 3.

I’m a huge fan of Capcom from back in the day, and this is a sale where I own absolutely everything I have a fleeting interest in. Yourselves?
