Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have a new trailer for The Evil Within at this week’s Tokyo Game Show 2014 where it is known as Psycho Break. You could be forgiven for not speaking Japanese to understand this trailer, but the images should do more than enough to give you a sense of what to expect.
One image stands out more than any other, though. Our hero, Det. Sebastian Castellanos, has a run in with a new face in this trailer, and wouldn’t you guess, he is wearing a white hood. Come on, seriously? Gaming artists, we all get that Assassin’s Creed is a huge hit and everyone wants a piece of that pie. Can we lay off the white robed characters though?
It’s a getting a little bit old.
Generic antagonists aside, The Evil Within’s trailer is loaded with horrific images as Castellanos crawls for safety after badly injuring his leg. I still think that hallway of spinning blades is the most nightmarish set piece I’ve seen to date in the game so far, but this trailer shows that Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has more up his sleeves than I have seen to date.
The Evil Within will be released on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 14.
