SEGA has 18 new screenshots showing the cast of Yakuza 0: The Place of Oath. As an origin story that takes place in the 1980s, you can expect a total fashion change and new sense of style from the various burly, snarly men of the Japanese underworld.
Just look at these suits in the screenshots. They’re amazing! It’s like looking at a time capsule or a window into the past with all of the dated digs, and the facial animations thanks to the powers of the PlayStation 4 are surperb as well.
In the 1980s, similar to America, Japan was all about corporate image, only unlike America, Japan’s economy was booming. Big businesses were in, everyone wanted to work in a high rise and wear a nice suit, and the value of the yen let people buy expensive materialistic objects.
The Yakuza were also in a much higher sense of power in the 80s as well, controlling the goings-on behind a lot of these companies. In Japan, they even have business cards for their groups! Just to give you a sense, it can be tough to tell who is sporting those tattoos beneath the suits.
Yakuza 0: The Place of Oath will be released in Japan in 2015 on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. No word on a localization yet, but SEGA has fallen behind on the series as of late.
