Sony Reveals a New E-Mount Lens for Serious Film Makers

Sony just unveiled a new addition to its E-mount camera lens lineup. The FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS made its debut at the IBC broadcast convention in Amsterdam, and offers a 35mm full-frame lens with power zoom. You can grab it this winter for $2500.

The new E-mount lens isn’t for casual film-makers. It comes with a new Sony feature called Smooth Motion Optics, which should offer a smoother experience across the board. It also includes three control rings for managing the focus, zoom and aperture as you shoot, and a new motor that should cut down on focus noise. Even with all of that it weighs just 2 pounds and 11 ounces.

Sony says it should work best with the Alpha 7S full-frame camera, which it sells for $2500, especially if you’re shooting in Full HD or 4k video. That’s definitely not cheap, but luckily the new lens will work with all of Sony’s E-mount cameras and camcorders.
