iPhone 6 Breaks Apple Pre-Orders Record

iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus spec shootout

The iPhone 6 is an early hit. While the failure of the online Apple Store earlier this morning suggested that demand was indeed high, Apple apparently just confirmed that it has indeed received a record number of pre-orders for the iPhone 6. The news was first reported by CNBC.

It’s unclear which model is the most successful so far; the iPhone 6 Plus already shows delivery times of 3-4 weeks for nearly every model, though many of the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 models are still in stock and ready for delivery on Sept. 19, the official launch day.

Apple might not release final figures for launch until after the initial launch weekend. Last year, the company noted that it sold 9 million iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c units during the first weekend both were on sale. Sales may be even greater this year.
