Guess the Phone: The Start of A Big Phone Movement

Did you see it? Did you see what that one company did this week after months and months of rumors? I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed. But can you ever just be whelmed? I think that’s the overall feeling across the industry right now. The new device is great, make no mistake. We’re just not blown away.

In honor of this device’s recent announcement, we decided to look back at this device’s very first member. It was long, long ago, and maybe thought the company was crazy for ever attempting such an audacious form factor. But it turned out to be one of the most successful lineups the company has ever put out, and by now the form factor is common across the industry.

It’s funny to see how much a device has evolved when a new one comes out. The specs obviously change, and the design usually gets some nips and tucks. Was the latest enough to get people of the last generation to upgrade? The jury is still out on that one. We’ll find out in the coming days and weeks.

For now, the device above is a look how it all started.

Last week’s Guess the Phone was the HTC Desire 816.
