You’re just sitting at a bus stop, playing Super Smash Bros. on your Nintendo 3DS with some friends, and, WHAM, you’re sent flying off into the distance all because the jerk using the Wii Fit Trainer got the bat and absolutely wrecked you.
Or, so the story goes in this awesome Super Smash Bros. for 3DS commercial that’s airing in Japan. Why do we get the kids convincing their parents to buy a Wii U with a giant pad of paper and pointer while Japan gets these things?
Sure, it’s a bit of an in-joke for Smash fans, but one has to assume that Nintendo of America’s marketing would be better for using a style similar to the one Nintendo of Japan’s currently sporting. Though, their “Wii would like to play” mantra from last generation did work pretty well.
Super Smash Bros. will hit the Nintendo 3DS on Oct. 3. The Wii U version still doesn’t have an exact release date, but it’s slated for this holiday.
