Minecraft Hits the PlayStation 4… Today!

Surprise, block placing and breaking fools, Minecraft is making its new console generation debut on the PlayStation 4 a day ahead of the Xbox One. In this race that no one cares about, 4J Studios and Sony beat out Microsoft by a single day.

All jokes aside, each new platform for Minecraft – PlayStation 4, PS Vita and Xbox One – has been a bit of a toss-up regarding release dates. The PS Vita version is still unheard from so far, though we know 4J Studios is working on it. Microsoft announced that Minecraft would hit the Xbox One on Friday a day or so ago, and now Sony finally has the release date for the PS4 version.

Minecraft will be available on the PS4 today, when the store updates.

If you own Minecraft on the PlayStation 3, you can upgrade to the new version for only $4.99. That deal matches the one Microsoft is offering between the 360 and Xbox One versions of the game.

Anyone upgrading or diving into Minecraft for the first time on PlayStation 4?
