Check Out Destiny’s Planet View, Unlock In-Game Content

“I’ve got it, let’s take Google Street View and put it on VENUS,” said that one guy at Bungie during a PR meeting regarding Destiny. So they did, and so it exists.

The Destiny Planet View site is live, and it’s essentially an interactive narrative exploration of Destiny‘s immediate celestial lore. You’ll cruise around the surfaces of the Moon, Venus and Mars while learning about the humans, the Fallen and the Hive.

There are also some secrets within this little pre-launch mini-exploration. If you explore all three locales and hit every trailer, screenshot and explanation, you’ll unlock an in-game emblem. Ooh, fancy.

It sounds small, but if you’re the type to go absolutely bonkers when it comes to completion for Bungie games, this is a necessary step down that path. Or, hey, if you wanna cheat to win, you can just hit this Reddit thread to skip all of the planet viewing for the emblem.

Destiny drops on Sept. 9, 2014 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. We’ll have more on the game, including our thoughts, as it comes.
