Last week, The Pokémon Company teased a special and “shocking” announcement set to drop today. That announcement has officially happened, and it certainly caught me by surprise.
Pokkén Tournament is officially bound for arcades in Japan, and it’s being developed by Bandai Namco. This is a two-player, competitive Pokémon fighting game.
Now, this will only be an arcade title at first. Bandai Nacmo, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will have Pokkén Tournament in arcades in Japan for a while, and then we’ll see it move to other platforms.
Which platforms and when? That likely won’t be answered for a long time. My money, of course, is on the Wii U. And I doubt we’ll see this thing hit the console until at least next year.
We’ll be updating this post with more media as it comes, so check back.
