Sony’s expected to bring a ton of new gadgets to Berlin next month for IFA 2014, and today we’re getting a look at two unannounced devices accidentally leaked by the Japanese tech giant itself. A new Facebook page promoting Sony’s SmartBand included one picture showing a new Android tablet and smartwatch in action. Sony quickly removed the image, but not before the leak began to spread online.
The mid-sized slate pictured above is almost certainly the rumored Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, which is expected to offer an 8-inch display and come in Wi-Fi and LTE variants. Meanwhile, the new smartwatch looks like another iteration of Sony’s standalone wearables lineup but lacks the metal border we saw on last year’s model. The company still hasn’t confirmed any plans to make an Android Wear device, though the next Sony Smartwatch may offer wireless charging, waterproof design, built-in Wi-Fi and a sharper display.
Sony is also expected to unveil two new smartphones next month at IFA: the flagship Xperia Z3 and a smaller, but powerful, Z3 Compact, making for what should be a jam-packed press event. In the past few years the company has proven it can make top-notch mobile devices, and we’re excited to see this small Sony slate in action. As for that new smartwatch, there are two few details to know what it has planned right now. We’ll be on the ground in Berlin next week to see what surfaces.
