The Xbox One 24 Hour Game Trial Listing was Done “in Error”

Max Curse of Brotherhood Free Error

Earlier this week, a little tag below Max: The Curse of Brotherhood on the Xbox One slipped out for certain gamers. That tag, as you see above, reads “Free Play Day with Gold.”

The assumption lead to a rumor suggesting that Microsoft was testing a 24-hour trial period for certain games as a perk that came with Xbox LIVE Gold memberships. That rumor has almost been quashed.

Maybe.

Eurogamer received a statement from a Microsoft rep regarding the listing.

A promotional tile for ‘Max: The Curse of Brotherhood’ was posted briefly on the US dash in error yesterday… We apologise for any inconvenience.

We’re constantly exploring different ways to offer more benefits to our Xbox Live Gold members and will keep them updated when special offers become available.

Now, that statement doesn’t necessarily match up with the word from Microsoft’s support team on Twitter. They responded to the pics with tweets that resembled something like “we aren’t ready to announce that yet.”

Who’s to say here? It certainly seems like something Microsoft could genuinely be interested in rolling out in the near future. It makes sense as an idea, and it’s consumer friendly to boot.

We’ll have more as it comes. I doubt this rumor is likely to disappear just yet.
