Disney Infinity has completely overtaken Disney Interactive with its success, and the number of characters in its line-up is continuing to grow. The cast is finally extending into classic Disney characters from my childhood and not just Marvel, Pixar, and Pirates of the Caribbean for the kids out there.
Seriously, Disney? It took this long for Donald Duck to make the cut? With a little more focus on history nowadays, maybe it’s time to check it out or possibly snag a free update from someone who no longer wants their Wii copy.
If you purchased the Disney Infinity Starter Pack for Nintendo’s Wii console, you are eligible for a free upgrade on the Wii U. Just turn on the eShop and download Disney Infinity without charge, and you’ll have all the characters, sandbox, and multiplayer options you’ve gained access to so far.
Not only is this recommended for those who like the game, but Wii owners who want to play Disney Infinity 2.0 must do this with the expansion not being made available on Nintendo’s previous generation console. It’s the HD way or the highway for Disney Infinity… sorry, that was bad.
Disney Infinity 2.0 goes live on Sept. 19 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U. The Marvel Super Heroes pack will be released on Sept. 23, and the Toy Box Combo will be released on Nov. 7.
Fun little side note: once Aladdin makes an appearance, Disney Infinity could become the fifth best game of all time to star the character following the two Kingdom Hearts games and the two Aladdin games from the SEGA Genesis and Super Nintendo. Square Enix and Capcom really know how to make the most of the character and his film’s setting.
Good stuff! This needs a Virtual Console release.
