After hyping an impending multiplayer announcement a few days ago, IGN posted today the first video of Metal Gear Solid V‘s multiplayer.
Starting at about 16:50, watch as Big Boss lands on another player’s Mother Base. From here, you can capture soldiers, weapons, and supplies, snatching resources from other players for your own use. Part of building up your Mother Base is keeping other players out using automated defenses like UAVs, gun cameras, and infrared lasers to detect the sloppier would-be thieves.
Automated defenses aren’t all you have at your disposal, though. If you’re attentive, you can stop the intruder yourself, as we see at the tail end of this video.
There’s no word yet on whether this is the only mode available, or exactly how it works. It looks like it could be designed to work asynchronously, but it could only be accessible while both players are online.
Either way, look forward to stealing all the livestock your friends collect when the game hits in 2015.
