Mighty No. 9 and Azure Striker Gunvolt. Both are 2D action games molded after the NES masterpieces of yesterday. Both are being helmed by producer Keiji Inafune, the co-creator of Mega Man. Both are under development by rising action stars Inti Creates. Everything seems in order for a wild Japanese crossover, right? Well, actually, yes!
Despite neither game actually being released yet, Inti Creates has confirmed at the two action games will be getting a crossover on the Nintendo 3DS.

Mighty No. 9‘s Beck will team up with Azure Striker Gunvolt‘s protagonist, Gunvolt, for an action romp using 8-bit sprites from the days of yore and powered by Street Pass. Joining them is also a character named Eroko from Inti Creates fan service game Gal*Gun, in which you fire love arrows at females to see their underwear and get them to fall in love with you.
Because that’s just the right way to do it, fellas! It’s not so hard to see why we are getting Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mighty No. 9 in America and not that one.
At any rate, despite the character’s questionable origins and innuendo hiding within her Japanese name, Eroko’s 8-bit sprite falls right into place with the other two, and Inti Create’s little mash-up looks like a glorious throwback to the past. Mega Man himself would be proud to see this game in action.
No word on a title or American release yet, but we’ll let you know when it happens. The official Japanese website is up and running with a host of screenshots.
Azure Striker Gunvolt will be released for the Nintendo 3DS on Aug.29h for $15. Mighty No. 9 will release for every platform under the sun next April. As for Gal*Gun, don’t get your hopes up.
