Is Jony Ive losing his touch?

The master designer behind Apple’s most iconic products is known for his artistic ability, but we’re really starting to wonder what’s going on with the iPhone 6 design. Nothing is final until the phone is unveiled — likely on September 9 — but a new set of leaked schematics show off a part that may be quite the eye sore.

Once again the schematics show the super ugly camera ring that we’ve seen popping up in leaked parts, too. We’re not quite sure why it’s there and why Apple would ruin an otherwise flush industrial design. Then again, we haven’t been a fan of the antenna bands that are running around the device either, though if it means we can avoid another “antennagate” then maybe they’ll at least serve a purpose.

The schematics from Apple.club.tw also suggest that Apple has been calling the 5.5-inch iPhone “N61” and the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 the “N56” internally, which are accurate according to MacRumors. Hopefully this camera nonsense will be all cleared up on September 9.
