Sharp’s nearly bezel-free Aquos Crystal smartphone is officially headed to Sprint. The company announced the news on Tuesday morning ahead of an official press event after the device leaked out on Sharp’s Japanese website earlier this week.
The new smartphone offers mid-range specs and a sleek design along with Harman Kardon audio technology. The Sharp Aquos Crystal comes equipped with a 5-inch 720p LCD display, a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, a 2040mAh battery, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a 1.2 mega-pixel front-facing camera. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and comes in either black or white.
Once the Sharp Aquos Crystal hits the market you’ll be able to pick one up from Sprint for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $10 along with a service plan. The device will also be available from Sprint’s prepaid subsidiaries for even cheaper. Virgin Mobile will offer the black variant for $149.99 upfront, while Boost Mobile gets the white version for the same price. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly smartphone this could be a solid option. We’re far more interested in Sharp’s new high-end Aquos Crystal X, though there’s still no word on whether the 5.5-inch handset will make it’s way to the U.S. as well.
