Apple will likely call its new and larger 4.7-inch iPhone the ‘iPhone 6,’ but what will it name its even bigger phone? We’ve assumed it might go with the iPhone Air moniker for its new 5.5-inch iPhone. That may not be the case, because a new report from Apple Daily says that Apple is ramping up to call the device the “iPhone 6L” — it even published a few images of the new phone.
The larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6L phablet will no doubt need to pack a large battery to satisfy the battery drain of a larger screen. Apple Daily suggests Apple is going to include a 2,915mAh battery, which is just a hair smaller than the 3,000mAh battery included in the LG G3 but is much larger than the leaked 1,810mAh battery allegedly heading for the iPhone 6. The site also suggests Apple created some sort of “breakthrough” in development that allowed it to create more rounded corners on the iPhone 6L.
There are several additional photos for your perusal. We expect Apple to at least unveil the iPhone 6 on Sept. 9, but perhaps we’ll see the iPhone 6L make an appearance as well.
