Samsung Next-Gen Level Headphones Expected Soon

Samsung just brought its high-end “Level” headphones to the U.S. last month, but a new report from Sammobile claims the company is already preparing to launch a second-generation of expensive audio products. According to one source the new Level lineup could hit the market by the end of the year, likely in time for the 2014 holiday shopping season.

At the moment, Samsung offers three different Level products. There’s the Level Over, an expensive over-the-ear set of Bluetooth headphones with gesture-based touchpad controls, and the cheaper Level On wired headphones. The company also offers its own Bluetooth speaker for $300, which is called Level Box. We’re guessing Samsung will iterate on all three products, though we wouldn’t rule out something new entirely. Maybe a set of wireless earbuds?

Level’s launch in the U.S. seemed timed to coincide with Apple’s decision to buy Beats Electronics, a company best know for its expensive and bass-heavy headphones. Moving into the holiday season we wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple aggressively promoting its newly acquired headphones, and it looks like Samsung wants to get in on the action as well. It should be interesting to see what the two tech titans can do for the high-end audio market, though for now we’re not too impressed with what either company has to offer in that respect.
