Halo 5’s Multiplayer Looks Totally Old-School

by Eric Frederiksen | August 12, 2014August 12, 2014 4:15 pm PST

343 Industries knows we’re excited about the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, and was ready to hand out some tasty morsels at today’s Gamescom presentation.

Everything the team has to say during the trailer has a distinctly old-school feel. The beta, which runs from Dec. 29, 2014 to Jan. 18, 2015, will focus on 4v4 arena-style gameplay. Map control and weapon control will be some of the biggest aspects of the game. Every player will start with the same loadout, as a result, putting everyone on relatively equal footing to start.

The beta will include 7 maps, 3 game modes, 11 weapons and 7 customizable armor sets and will play on dedicated servers.

The best part for Halo fans, though? Some of the things you unlock in the beta will carry over to the full Halo 5: Guardians game.

Look forward to the beta going live just after Christmas.
