Microsoft is gearing up to announce its latest Windows Phone. A new invitation sent out to press on Monday suggests the announcement will occur on September 4 during IFA in Berlin, Germany. The invite doesn’t reveal a whole lot, but there’s a hint that this device is going to focus on camera technology.
Several reports have suggested that HTC is working on a new Windows Phone with premium materials offered on the HTC One (M8). That’s likely going to be the star of the show during the company’s press conference on Aug. 19 and, so far, appears destined for at least Verizon. So, in Berlin, it’s possible we’ll see the rumored “Selfie” phone that was recently leaked. It still carries the Nokia branding, according to leaked photos that hit the Internet last week, and will apparently feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The focus on a camera in the save-the-date might point to something else entirely, like a brand new Lumia device with a huge sensor similar to what we saw with the Lumia 1020. TechnoBuffalo will be at the show and we’ll let you know what surfaces.
