Windows Phone Hits Major Milestone

Windows Phone hit a big milestone at the end of June. Microsoft revealed recently that there are now more than 300,000 applications available for its Windows Phone platform. Yes, that’s still about a million fewer applications than you’ll find in iOS and Android, but Microsoft has done a pretty good job getting its platform up to speed recently.

In fact, the Windows Phone Store is growing rapidly. Speaking to TNW, Microsoft said that it saw 94 percent growth between June 2013 and June 2014, and that it boosted its number of developers by 50 percent. Today, you’ll find hit games like Modern Combat 5: Blackout and other must-haves like Uber are finally hitting the platform, though there’s still a hole for some of my favorites (Dark Sky, Cal, Pocket, etc.) The growth should help continue to spur developer interest, however.

What are your favorite Windows Phone apps, and which ones are you most looking forward to hitting the platform?
