Pokemon Red and Blue Envisioned by Fans as a Free-to-Play Title

And this is exactly why we don’t want to see Nintendo titles appear on smartphones. EVER!

A Nintendo fan at imgur, found through reddit, has touched up iconic images from the original Pokemon Red and Blue versions to show what a potential Pokemon mobile game would look like. The results are a nightmare so horrible that I hope it never comes true in my lifetime or even my great great grandchildrens’.

Of course, there is nothing to suggest that Nintendo would stoop to tactics openly employed by other publishers of free-to-play content, but for some reason, gamers continuously call on Nintendo to make this happen. Believe it or not, there is a movement of people who think this is a good idea! Money hungry investors who don’t care about video games I can understand, but gamers?

Why would any gaming enthusiast want this abomination to come true?

This is the reason why continued support of traditional models for purchasing video games is so important. This is the reason why continued support of dedicated gaming hardware is so important. I like owning my games, and I don’t like it when a publisher breathes down my neck or sticks its finger in my pockets every five minutes when I’m simply trying to enjoy a video game.

I buy a game, and I come back to you to buy more games or maybe a DLC if you’ve made me happy. Nintendo has always done this, and that’s why I still play its games thirty years later.

Fight the good fight, Nintendo! I’m behind you all the way!
