According to a report from GameSpot, Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, which is set for release in just a couple weeks, will run at 1080p, 60 frames per second on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
While the PlayStation 4 version will run that way out of the box, the Xbox One version requires a patch, available at release, to do so. Without the patch, the game will run at 900p.
Blizzard had said previously that it would like to get the game to 1080p eventually thanks to the June update to the development kit, but that it wouldn’t be ready in time for launch, making this a rare case of a developer under-promising and over-delivering, instead of the other way around. As GameSpot notes, Diablo III isn’t the first game to see this happen and, as both Sony and Microsoft continue to update their systems, we can expect to see it keep happening on both.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition hits PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on August 19th, and includes the main game and the Reaper of Souls expansion pack.
