It seems like just yesterday that Sony unveiled the Xperia Z2 Tablet at Mobile World Congress, but the company may already be gearing up for its next Android slate. The Japanese tech giant has recently been on a 6-month product cycle, and today we got our first big hint that the next Sony tablet is on the way.
The leaks comes from Indonesian regulatory database Postel and appears to confirm that Sony is working on a new tablet with the model number SGP621. That lines up with earlier Xperia slates like the Tablet Z (model number SGP321) and the Z2 Tablet (SGP521). Those were both LTE variants while the Wi-Fi only Xperia Z2 Tablet was listed as SGP511, suggesting this new Android device will offer 4G LTE capability as well.
We’re not really sure what to expect from the new Xperia tablet, though Sony definitely set the bar high with its Z2 Tablet. Xperia Blog seems to think this one could be a mid-sized 8-inch slate, though it’s unclear where that rumor comes from. Either way it shouldn’t be too long before we get an official look at the new tablet what with the IFA expo just under a month away.
