HTC Gallery Updated With Special Features for the One (M8)

HTC on Thursday updated its standalone Gallery Google Play application, and it’s delivering some great new features to the company’s HTC One (M8) flagship. We love the new approach to launching standalone apps inside of Google Play, since it allows companies like HTC to issue updates without having to patch the entire phone or wait for approval from wireless carriers.

The update includes a new “Duo Effects Gallery,” which allows you to share the photos you’ve snapped using UFocus, Foregrounder and Dimension Plus with anyone, not just folks who have an HTC One (M8). That means you can share your unique images, which gather depth data thanks to a special sensor on the One (M8), through any application — like Facebook or Messaging, for example — and then your friend on the receiving end will receive a link to a special Web interface where he or she will be able to interact with the photo.

The app is available in Google Play right now. HTC still hasn’t shared any details on when its highly awaited Zoe application will launch, too.
