UberPool Lets You Save Money By Carpooling With Strangers

Uber is already the cheapest car service available in some cities, but a new service from the company could help drive down your commute costs even more. A new carpooling service called UberPool was announced today, letting you share your ride with random strangers who happen to be going in the same direction.

Once it launches, UberPool should show up as an option in the app alongside UberX, Black Car and UberT. The only difference is that once you request a ride and enter your destination, Uber will find someone else with a similar route and lump you together. Sure it might be a little awkward but the company says you’ll save as much as 40 percent on your ride even if Uber can’t actually find someone to carpool with you.

UberPool is in early private beta so you probably won’t be able to try it out for yourself just yet. Uber says it’s working directly with Google to get the new service up and running before expanding its beta test on Aug. 15. Until then you can hit the source link below and enter your info to find out as soon as UberPool is available in your hometown.
